The PTCUMC Preschool has been providing a nurturing environment for 30 years in which children can develop an awareness of the world around them at their own pace. Our school offers classes for Early 3s through Pre-K 4s and the opportunity for children to grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally and socially within an atmosphere of Christian love. We uphold the philosophy that a child ‘Learns through Play’.
Our program is carefully planned for laying a solid foundation for kindergarten. It is a building of their speaking vocabulary, learning to follow directions, listening and answering questions about what they have heard along with many other skills to help a child grow each year that they are with us. We want our children to have a good self-concept, to have fun and to have positive group relationships. We want them to learn self-discipline and find satisfaction in the things they can do. Additionally, academic skills such as letter recognition and sound, numbers, colors, shapes and pre-writing skills are taught in each class.
PTCUMC School staffs each class with two Christian teachers. Staff members are required to attend training each school year. This training includes CPR/First Aid, Safe Sanctuaries and advance training in teaching tools and curriculum. Our school is certified as a Program of Excellence for Young Children by the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Preschool Association.
